NEWS: BBC Announces The Fades

It's nice to see that the BBC - after years of poo-pooing anything that didn't involve elderly people rolling down hills in bathtubs or John Nettles - is finally realising there's an audience for genre TV. With Doctor Who, Torchwood and Being Human all returning for new seasons and Bedlam on its way, there may soon be another show we can add to the viewing list, in the form of supernatural series The Fades.

The Fades follows Paul - played by Iain De Caester - a young man plagued by visions of the apocalypse and haunted (quite literally) by the spirits of the dead - the titular Fades. It's being billed as a ''supernatural horror'' show, so here's hoping for plenty of creepy moments and good scares.

No word yet on an air date beyond ''later this year'' in the UK but the show will be previewed at the MCM London Expo this weekend. You can also see more over at Bleeding Cool.
