FEATURE: LoEB ''I Love...''

Unfortunately we missed-out on last week's League of Extraordinary Bloggers assignment due to some boring real-world stuff. But now we're back on  active duty!

In a special Valentine's Day-themed assignment, Brian at Cool and Collected posed the following:

Write a stream of conscious post listing the things you love and hold dear.

So with that in mind, here goes...

I love...

... Silver Age comic books ads (and it seems I'm not the only one.)

... blind-bagged/boxed toys.

... the subversive genius of Laibach.

... J.R.R. Tolkien's works.

... looking at old photos of places I know.

... Hostess Twinkies and Fruit Pies comic ads.

... Sapphire & Steel.

... Ray Harryhausen movies, especially the Sinbad ones.

... using Google Street View to ''revisit'' the places I grew up in.

... Amicus' anthology horror movies.

... Rammstein.

... Game of Thrones/A Song of Ice and Fire.

... John Carpenter movies.

... Psychonaut.

... Mom & Pop stores.

... Nigel Kneale's works, especially Quatermass & The Pit, The Stone Tape and Beasts.

... pre-digital arcade machines like Sega's Gun Fight and Commando.

... Community.

... Lego's new Galaxy Squad toys.

... HP Lovecraft.

... looking up at the night sky.

... cereal box designs, especially retro-style ones.

... Indian food.

... cheap 80s horror movies.

... Chevy Chase doing slapstick.

... M.R. James ghost stories.

... Captain Action.

... The Land that Time Forgot.

... Tim Minchin's White Wine in The Sun.

... vending machine capsule toys.

.. 1970s BBC supernatural dramas like A Warning to the Curious and Dead of Night.

... 30 Rock.

... going on road trips and programming the GPS/SatNav to keep us off major roads.

... vintage Microman/Micronauts TV ads.

... Doctor Who.

... Demdike Stare [NSFW]

... classic Spider-Man villains like The Vulture, Mysterio, Green Goblin and Kraven the Hunter.

... getting toys in my breakfast cereal. They need to bring that back.

... Sarah Jane Smith.

... retro/vintage Universal Monsters merchandise, like monster masks and the Aurora Model Kits (probably more than I like the actual movies.)

... terrible ''documentaries'' about the paranormal, UFOs, cryptids and ghost hunting.

... Jack Kirby's artwork.

... The Planet of the Apes ''bucka-ducka-ducka-duk'' score.

... SLUG Zombies.

... But most of all, I love my fantastic, funny, sexy, witty, smart, caring, beautiful wife, who never once has said to me ''we'd have a lot more room - and money - if you got rid of your toys,'' even though she knows that if she were to ask, I'd do it in a heartbeat for her.
