For a guy in a day-glo tabard and armed with a frisbee, Tron was seriously cool. He was stoic, he fought for the Users and he was played by Bruce Boxleitner. And that made him awesome.
Now it looks like those who missed the original Tron movie and never got to see him in action will be given the chance next year, with the release of Disney's new animated series, Tron Uprising.
Set between the original movie and Tron: Legacy (both out on Blu-Ray next month), Uprising tells the story of Beck, an inexperienced young Program (played by Elijah Wood) who becomes a hero-in-training under the tutorlage of the Grid's greatest warrior, Tron. The 10-part series, which includes a host of well-known voice-talents (including Lance Henrickson, Paul Reubens and Bruce Boxleitner reprising his role as Tron) is set for a Summer 2012 release. But if you can't wait that long, the DVD and Blu-Ray releases of Tron Legacy promise to include a ''sneak peek'' of the series.
More when we get it.
