NEWS: Hasbro's Marvel Universe & Legends SDCC Announcements

Straight from the San Diego Comic Con comes news that Hasbro's Marvel Universe line will continue into next year with some amazing new releases.

According to Tweeted updates from Action Figure Insider and Kastor's Korner, next year sees the release of a number of new figures, including She-Hulk, Nova, Jubilee, Puck, Scarlet Witch, Angel (with original wings, rather than the previously-released Archangel), Hercules and Kang the Conqueror (yes!) There's also a ''paper bag'' Spider-Man (which is an odd but fun choice and I suppose we have to have our share of Spider-Man figures to keep sales up) and next year's Marvel Masterwork oversized toy will be none other than Fin Fang Foom.

In related Masterwork news, this year's Sentinel may also be released at retail in the San Diego Comic Con-''exclusive'' colourway.

Hasbro has given some thought to vehicles for the figures and currently plans to release ''a guy in a floating chair.'' No confirmation on who that is but rumours are it's Professor Xavier. They'll also be continuing the Gigantic Battles line of toys but again, no word yet on who's next to get the oversized-toy treatment.

UPDATE: Marvelous News confirms the Future Foundation Spider-Man along with images of Scarlet Witch and more and has since added some photos of the actual figures. Cool Toy Review's gallery is also online.

In other news, the Marvel Legends line's Wave 2 is set to feature the ''Bucky'' Captain America, Spider-Man, Daken and The Wrecking Crew (complete with a ''mid-season'' running change with Piledriver replacing Thunderball) and Madam Hydra and Madam Masque also being switched-out during the run.

Wave 2's Build-A-Figure is Armin Zola, but the variant figures will feature swap-able parts to allow you to construct Red Skull (which sounds like an excuse to try and shift more units featuring the ''common parts'' if you ask me...)

As for release dates, Marvel Legends Wave 1 will hit in January 2012, with Wave 2's release date to be announced.

UPDATE: The ToyArk has some additional shots of the upcoming Legends figures.

  2. I'm glad to see some new characters being introduced to the MU line, rather than yet more costume variants.
