The Wicker Man is a movie that - to this day - divides critics and audiences. Some see it as little more than a heavy-handed twist-ending coupled with some folk tunes and Christopher Lee in a kilt. But fans of the movie - myself included - see it as so much more, a movie that gets better with subsequent viewings, filled with superb imagery, menacing pacing and a magic all of its own.
Now there's a new chapter to the story, with the upcoming release of The Wicker Tree.
Directed by The Wicker Man's Robin Hardy and based upon his book Cowboys for Christ, The Wicker Tree is described as neither a remake of or sequel to the 1973 classic. However, from the imagery seen in the trailer (and the book's plot) there are certainly thematic elements common to both.
Judge for yourself in this trailer. But be warned that the following contains nudity and imagery that may not be suitable for younger viewers.
No word yet on a release date but we'll keep you posted.
In the woods there grew a tree....
