Fans of glam metal-haired, subway-riding romantic lion men may be pleased to hear that cult 80s TV show Beauty And The Beast is getting the remake treatment.
Effectively the Twilight of its day, Beauty and the Beast was a modern update of the classic fairy tale, centered around the relationship between lawyer Catherine Chandler (The Terminator's Linda Hamilton) and man-beast Vincent (Hellboy himself, Ron Perlman.) When Catherine is left for dead following a brutal assault, the lion-like Vincent takes her to the underground sanctuary he shares with a group of other outcasts and - with the help of the community's leader, Father - nurses her back to health. Vincent and Catherine share an empathic bond that leads to Vincent becoming her protector and - as the series continued - the two eventually became lovers.
Now The TV Line brings us the news that TV channel The CW is looking to bring the show back to our screens. According to the reports, the show will not ''not only modernize and CW-up the love story but also add a procedural twist.''
Without a Trace's Jennifer Levin and Brothers & Sisters‘ Sherri Cooper are set to handle scripting and executive producer duties.
