It seems when ABC's Marvel-based superhero shows debut next year, they may be joined by a hero from the other camp...
Deadline reports that Fox TV is developing supernatural superhero The Spectre for the small screen. Created by Jerry Siegel (of Superman fame) and Bernard Baily, The Spectre tells the tale of slain police officer Jim Corrigan who returns to life as The Spectre, seeking to avenge himself on those who killed him. Debuting in 1940 the character has undergone a number of changes over the last 70 years - both in terms of ''secret identity'' and powers - but at its core has always been the concept of The Spectre as the ''spirit of vengeance.''
The Spectre will be produced by Bill (Gran Torino) Gerber and written by Brandon (John Doe) Camp. No word yet on a release date but a Fall 2012 date would seem likely.
I doubt it will happen, but this is one I will root for the most! I LOVE the Spectre!
ReplyDeleteI just hope they don't turn it into some crappy supernatural police procedural...!
