After many months of behind-the-scenes photos, rumours and general Internet gossip, the first official trailer for Marvel's The Avengers has finally landed.
I have to say, perhaps it's simply me expecting more or the fact that they haven't really shot a great deal of usable footage yet, but this trailer is surprisingly underwhelming. There's no iconic team shot, it lacks any real sense of what the movie is actually about, there's no ''oh cool!'' bad guy reveal and - maybe it's just me being all Generation X - but the use of Nine Inch Nails on the soundtrack seems a fairly contrived move from a marketing guy thinking it's ''cool and edgy.'' No it's just very literal and about as edgy as having Barney the Dinosaur singing a song about cooperation...
It's too damned early and I need more coffee.
