Ben Whishaw - probably best known for his roles in the BBC period spy drama The Hour and smell-based murder mystery Perfume: The Story Of A Murder - has joined the cast of the latest James Bond movie, Skyfall.
As reported at HitFix, the 31-year old actor has been cast as Bond's eccentric boffin quartermaster, Q, a role made famous by Desmond Llewelyn (and later played by John Cleese.) Whishaw joins returning cast members Daniel Craig and Dame Judy Dench along with new additions Javier Bardem, Ralph Feinnes, Albert Finney and Naomie Harris in the 23rd official outing for Bond.
Skyfall is currently filming and set for release in October 2012.
