The passing last year of Lis Sladen left not only a massive void in the hearts of her millions of fans but also in the CBBC schedules when the BBC made the - correct - decision not to continue production of The Sarah Jane Adventures without its lead.
The BBC has since commissioned a new show from Doctor Who and The Sarah Jane Adventures showrunner Russel T. Davies, entitled Aliens Vs Wizards, which they seem to be grooming as the successor to his earlier work.
With Davies being joined by Sarah Jane's Phil Ford, Joseph Lidster and Gareth Roberts, the new show certainly sounds like a spiritual sequel to the Doctor Who spin-off, with the synopsis certainly making Aliens Vs Wizards sound as if it will be the same mix of humour, fantasy adventure and drama.

Tom Clarke lives a seemingly ordinary life with his dad and grandmother. However he hides a deep secret – Tom’s family are wizards and when the Nekross arrive, hungry for magic, they find themselves on the menu.
The Nekross may be equipped with ray guns, teleports and high-tech robots but they haven’t reckoned on Tom and his friend, science super-brain Benny. They form an extraordinary duo, using Tom’s magic and Benny’s science to battle the Nekross and save the Earth.
