NEWS: Mega Blocks Skylanders


Mega Brands has announced it's to produce a line of mini-figures based on the incredibly popular Skylanders videogame sequel, Skylanders Giants.

Licence signed to make Mega Bloks and Mega Puzzles based on the No.1 kids video game

Mega Brands has entered into a multi-year global licensing partnership with Activision to produce toys based on its forthcoming Skylanders sequel: Skylanders Giants.

Mega says the toys will offer kids and collectors ‘the ability to build and rebuild the wonderful characters and magical worlds from the new and highly anticipated Skylanders Giants video game'.

Vic Bertrand, chief innovation officer of Mega Brands, said: “We are thrilled to partner with Activision on the hottest property in the kids space. We look forward to bringing the endless creative play possibilities of Mega Bloks together with our innovative line of Mega Puzzles to the world of Skylanders Giants.”

Skylanders Giants is the latest in a string of premium licences acquired by the Montreal-based toy maker, with recent deals including Moshi Monsters, Mattel’s Barbie and Hot Wheels.

Activision announced it had sold over 30 million Skylanders figurines as of March 31st and has touted the video game/toy hybrid as its next “billion dollar franchise”.

Ashley Maidy, head of global licensing and partnerships at Activision Publishing, said: “We’re excited to collaborate with the creative talent at Mega Brands on this new line of Mega Bloks and Mega Puzzles. 

"One of the magical things about Skylanders Spyro’s Adventure and Skylanders Giants is how they inspire kid’s imaginations and we look forward to giving them new ways to create exciting adventures and unique play experiences.”
