GI Joe fans were left in the lurch earlier this week when Hasbro announced that the GI Joe: Retaliation figures currently available at retail would not be followed-up with a second or third Wave until closer to the movie's release date of March 2013. Now we have a little more information to share on the matter.
An email from Hasbro - and shared by Past Generation Toys - confirms what we already knew: that the toys are being delayed. Thankfully it goes on to confirm that Hasbro has no plans to reduce the toy line-up when they're re-released:
Any and all planned figures, if not out at retail already, will be released in the spring of 2013 around the time the movie hits theaters. For the action figure collector community, this includes all “waves” of previously announced figures. At this time, we do not anticipate that any products that have already been announced for the Retaliation line will be cancelled. When the full line is delivered to retail it will be in the same packaging seen now.
