Today's Review of Kamakura rounds-off our Reviews of the GI Joe: Retaliation Three-Packs. So overall, how does each pack fare? Read on and find out as we round-up the individual Reviews and give a final score to each three-pack.
First up, the Ninja Dojo Set, featuring Roadblock, Beachhead and Kamakura, along with an assortment of equipment including an oversized rocket launcher (we failed to mention this in our Roadblock Review.)
Overall, the pack is solid enough. Beachhead is excellent, Night Ops Roadblock is superior to the single carded version (thanks mainly to having hands that actually work) but Kamakura is disappointing. Still, for $20 you get three figures for the price of two, so even if one of them isn't great you really can't complain.
Final Score: B+
GI Joe: Retaliation Ninja Showdown Set
This three-pack focuses on Ninja action and sees the single Joe Snake Eyes taking on long-time rival Storm Shadow plus a Red Ninja.
For me this is definitely the stand-out choice, featuring what I think is the definitive Snake Eyes, an excellent Red Ninja and a solid Storm Shadow. Again, at $20 this is a great bargain but I just wish the Storm Shadow had been a little better, as he struggles to match the level of excellence seen with the other two figures.
Final Score: A-
Basically, both of these are must-buys. Astonishing that they pushed all the great figures into these packs while the stores are going to be stuffed with that godawful no-hand Roadblock figure through Christmas.
ReplyDeleteThe Joe Trooper's the only real must-have of the single-pack line, although I like the single-pack Red Ninja slightly more because of the paint job.
To be honest, whilst both are very good if I were forced to choose between them I'd go for the Ninja Showdown set, as it feels more complete and polished to me. But yes, both are rather excellent.
