Last week we brought you news that speculation was rife over an Avengers shared-universe TV show rumored to be in development for ABC. Now it's official.
Bob Iger, Chairman of Disney (who own Marvel, ABC and happiness TM) announced yesterday that Avengers writer-director Joss Whedon will return to both roles for the upcoming sequel to the smash-hit supergroup movie. In addition, he's also to develop a ''Marvel-based'' TV show for ABC. Could this be the aforementioned Avengers-minus-The-Avengers show, which has been described as a ''police procedural''-style show set in the Marvel Universe?
Given the success of Marvel's The Avengers - which has currently grossed almost $1.5 billion worldwide - it comes as no surprise to learn of Disney's plans to not only continue but also expand the franchise.
