I'm surprised it's taken this long, but Sony has announced plans for a Metal Gear Solid movie.
Based upon the now-legendary (although I personally never got what all the fuss was about) gaming series, Mega Gear Solid: The Movie (our working title, not theirs) is being produced by former Marvel Studios CEO Avi Arad and the game's creator, Hideo Kojima.
As SFX points out, though, despite some impressive cut-scenes and the obvious edge-of-the-seat tension such a stealth-based movie could provide, the games' plots always seemed to *ahem* lean toward the homage, so just how well it will translate to the big screen remains to be seen.
