NEWS: The CW Developing ''The Next Buffy''

TV network The CW - home to such Young Adult-friendly hits as Smallville and Supernatural, plus upcoming shows Arrow and Beauty and the Beast - is developing what they're hoping will be ''The Next Buffy The Vampire Slayer.''

According to Spinoff Online, the station's is developing a new supernatural adventure-drama based upon the book by Jessica Shirvington, Embrace.

As you can see from the trailer below (yes, books have trailers now, apparently) the book (and presumably show) is based around the life of a young woman who discovers not all is what it seems and she's in fact part of an eternal struggle between the forces of good and evil.

The Hollywood Reporter states that the show is being scripted by Bill Laurin and Glenn Davis, who - along with Justin Falvey and Darryl Frank - will serve as Executive Producers should the show go into production. At this time The CW has merely given the greenlight to a pilot script, with a view to moving forward if an appropriate treatment can be developed.

Is there room for ''another Buffy?'' We'll see when - or if - Embrace hits the airwaves.
