The CW's I'm-enjoying-it-more-than-I-expected-to superhero show Arrow will be adding a new cast member that will make fans of the original comics sit up and take notice...
Teen Wolf's Colton Haynes is set to appear in the hit show as Roy Harper. To non-fans that name may not mean much but in the comic mythology, Roy Harper is the alter ego of Green Arrow's sidekick Speedy and Teen Titans member Arsenal (seen most recently in Cartoon Network's Young Justice.)
According to TV Guide, Harper is "a handsome, street-savvy, teenager from 'the Glades,' the harsh, poverty-stricken portion of Starling City.'' It's also been revealed that he will serve as a love interest for Oliver's flighty sister Thea - who also happens to be nicknamed ''Speedy.'' Whether Thea being referred to as ''Speedy'' began life as a simple nod to the fans or if the writers have a longer term plan remains to be seen, although we wouldn't be surprised to find later down the line that in this update, the hooded vigilante gains a sidekick that's a little more feminine than the original.
