Fans of James Cameron's special effects test reel sci-fi epic Avatar will be pleased to hear they'll soon be able to experience the amazing CGI animation eco-system of Pandora for themselves.
HitFix reports that an Avatar-themed attraction is planned for Walt Disney World's Animal Kingdom resort, in which visitors will come face-to-face with the exotic wildlife from the 2009 smash-hit movie. Director James Cameron and producer Jon Landau will act as consultants on the ride, which joins Star Wars and the Indiana Jones movies as one of the few non-Disney properties featured at the park.
"I'm chomping at the bit to start work with Disney's legendary Imagineers to bring our 'Avatar' universe to life," Cameron said. "Our goal is to go beyond current boundaries of technical innovation and experiential storytelling, and give park goers the chance to see, hear, and touch the world of 'Avatar' with an unprecedented sense of reality."
Construction on Disney's Avatar ride is set to begin in 2013.
