I typically have been disappointed with MU figures, but I love oversized figures and I found WW Hulk and Apocalypse. I was so happy with both of them I ended up going back and getting Cable. Although he has some issues that seem to plague the line, such as hips that don't want to hold any dynamic poses, and still doesn't feel as sturdy as a G.I. Joe or Iron Man 2 figure, I still think he is cool.
I've yet to see Thanos, WW Hulk or Apocalypse (or any of the other new Wave) but I do know what you mean. Some of the skinnier MU figures feel very fragile and the hips can be very problematic, especially on the super-skinny body, as used for Spider-Man.
I've never seen Thanos either. I happened to stumble across a Target yesterday that had just put out the new figures, and WW Hulk is being packed in with them.
I forgot to mention that Cable is very tall, almost as tall as Colossus. So I don't know how well he'll fit in with a marvel display. It doesn't bother me because I rarely buy figures for their character (Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow being the exception). So Cable won't be Cable for me, but a cybernetic soldier to go with my G.I. Joes. Apocalypse is a mindless giant guard grown/built in a laboratory.....you know stuff like that.
1st appearance Wolverine was pretty tempting, but $8 for such a small figure with no accessories felt like a rip off compared to WW Hulk, Apocalypse and Cable.
I had heard WW Hulk was being reissued with this wave, so I'm hoping I'll get lucky. As for Thanos, there's a Greatest Battles pack coming out with him and Adam Warlock - that end-up being the one I get...
sorry to go off topic here but i just wanted to say i just got back from seeing THOR and it was pretty good. a solid 3 out of 4 stars. the movie was all around cast well but the guy who played Loki was perfect.
It's weird how Hasbro are distributing their newest toys. I found the latest Greatest Battles packs in a Walmart, yet I've never seen them in any other one. Similarly, I'm hearing of people in my State - indeed, within about 40 miles of me - finding the new MU and Joe figures, yet I've seen nothing. I don't get it.
The scalpers are finding the Cables, and Thanos and then selling them on Ebay for 3 times what they payed. It really sucks for the collector. The fun of the hunt has been exasperating for Cable. I cant find him anywhere.
Yup. I've never seen either in the wild. I think Hasbro are also not helping by short-packing them in waves featuring ''popular'' characters that are left shelf-warming. Hopefully we'll see some revision waves soon.
The new waves are showing up on west coast already. Dr.Strange is supposedly the short packed figure. The one most fans want. If you look on Ebay the non phasing Dr. Strange is ranging from 55.00 to 99.00 for buy it now. These prices are insane.
That's crazy. And there's no need for Doctor Strange to be short-packed - it's not like there are army builders or especially popular/more well-known figures in the wave. If anything, he's probably the most recognisable of the lot!
Found 2 Cables on Ebay w Hope for buy it now 16.00. This is the best price i have seen in a long time. Maybe they are starting to show up in stores again.
That's not a bad price (although S&H could push it up a bit) but to be honest, when it comes to the MU line my attitude now is that if I find them on-shelves, I'll buy them. If not, I don't lose any sleep over them.
