NEWS: Hasbro to Produce GI Joe KreO Toys?

Kre-O is a line of construction toys, similar to Mega Bloks and Lego. The first releases - the Transformers KreO sets - have been quite the success, with both playsets and individual figures (called KreOns) selling rather well both in-store and online.

Now the latest rumour is that Hasbro could be expanding the Kre-O line to include one of their other franchises: GI Joe...

At least, that's the story over at The HISS Tank.

But before we go any further, it's worth noting that this rumour is based purely upon speculation... although it's not entirely unfounded.

After all, look closely at the Transformers Kre-O toy packaging and you'll see they're produced in collaboration with Oxford Bricks, a Korean manufacturer of construction toys. And what's interesting is that Oxford produce a line of military playsets, vehicles and mini-figures...

Is it too far a stretch of the imagination for Hasbro to retool and repackage the toys as part of the GI Joe line?   Whether this is just wishful thinking or an inside scoop remains to be seen, but we'll certainly keep you posted.
