Post-Gremlins there was a slew of cheaply-made mini-monster movies (including such ''classics'' the Ghoulies, Troll, Critters and Leprechaun franchises) and clearly somebody at Mattel thought, ''Hey, I want a slice of that pie!''
The result was the Boglins (an anagram of goblin, in case you hadn't noticed), a line of rubbery hand-puppets that wouldn't look out of place on the set of such a cheap 80s horror flick. That's not to say the Boglins were themselves cheap. Far from it. Construction was sturdy, molding was neat and - best of all - each featured a workable mouth and movable eye mechanism. These were quality toys.
And yes, I actually owned one myself, even though I was clearly too old to do so. But sometimes a good toy - like youth - is wasted on the young.
