Years before Lost was thrilling audiences with its mysterious plots, multi-episode arcs and enigmatic themes, there was Babylon 5.
Created by J. Michael Straczynski and staring Bruce Boxleitner, Peter Jurasik, Andreas Katsulas, Bill Mumy and Mira Furlan, the show was revolutionary, thanks to its complex, interwoven plots, life-spanning character arcs and use of computer graphics.
Now, it could be coming back.
ComicBookMovie.net reports that Walter Koening - who played the recurring role of Psi Cop Alfred Bester - is in discussions with Warner Brothers to acquire the rights to the show, with a view to bringing it back to the small - or big - screen. Koening was a very vocal supporter of Straczynski's show during its run and it would seem his passion for the sci-fi epic has not diminished.
We'll bring you more when we have it.
this series got off to a real slow start. originally i dismissed it after having seen the first couple of episodes. but the writing on the show improved greatly when the Shadow Wars plot line came more into focus. the special effects and interiors set deigns on the station were a bit of a sore spot through out the series unfortunately. what really carried the series was the well developed characters like Bester and intricate political plot lines.
ReplyDeleteWhat's weird is if you look back at Season 1, there's actually a lot of foreshadowing for the upcoming plot. My guess is they didn't want to scare-off casual audiences with too much plot at first but once the show was renewed for Season Two they could develop more of the arc.
