Attention online gamers!
If you're one of the millions eagerly anticipating the release of EA/Bioware's upcoming Star Wars: The Old Republic Massive Multiplayer Online Game, then you may want to secure your pre-order now.
Eurogamer reports that publisher Electronic Arts plans to limit the game's release at launch to avoid server-congestion. As anybody who's ever played an MMO at launch will know, the influx of new players all trying to register and log-in to the game world can often lead to overloaded servers and many hours of disappointment. So whilst EA are to be applauded for attempting to avoid this issue, it sounds - at least to me - to be an attempt to bolster pre-orders for the game, which so far has cost over 20 bazillion dollars to develop*.
There's no word yet on when we can expect to see Star Wars: The Old Republic on shelves or how exactly EA will be controlling the number of copies released.

* OK, not 20 bazillion. Probably more like 10 bazillion.
