NEWS: Matty Collector Updates

Mattel has posted a couple of updates regarding their Matty Collector Clubs, including a look at the upcoming Club-exclusives, plus a little clarification on the future of the DC Universe Classics line....

Club Exclusives
This Monday (August 15th) sees the release of a new wave of Club-exclusive figures.

First up, Club Eternia members will be pleased to see the arrival of Man-E-Faces and Megator along with re-issues of Beast Man and Gygor. I'm not a collector of the Masters of the Universe Classics figures but the design of these toys makes me wonder why, as they look awesome.

From the Justice League Unlimited line comes this Green Lantern Origins Three Pack, featuring Hal Jordan, Abin Sur and Sinestro.

Finally, Ghostbusters fans can enjoy this double-pack of the ''Ready to Believe You'' Egon Spengler and ghost.

The new figures will be on-sale from Monday, August 15th at 9 AM PST.

WWE Legends Voting
Matty Collector will be releasing six exclusive Legends WWE figures through their site in 2012 and they want your feedback. The Number One spot is already taken by Andre the Giant, but there are still five other slots to fill and you can vote now for your favourites, with the most popular selections being added to the release roster for next year.

Club Infinite Earths vs Retail
Mattel has also clarified their position with regard to the Club Infinite Earths releases. You can read a copy of the statement over at Action Figure Insider but the essential message is that retail will carry ''mainstream and kid/mom friendly mixes/characters'' whilst the Infinite Earths club will be used to release more obscure ''C and D list characters.'' They've also abandoned the Collect and Connect build-a-figure concept from retail and there will no longer be themes to each wave.

They also go on to explain - in a surprisingly candid tone - that Club Infinite Earths put together ''very quickly''  which is why the actual release line-up and details have been a little sketchy.

There's more to read in the full article, so if you're a fan of the DC Universe Classics line, head over to AFI now.

Club Subscription Extension
Finally, the various Matty Collector clubs - Club Infinite Earth, Lion Force, Club Eternia and Club Ecto-1 - have all extended their subscription deadlines to August 22nd.

You can see more on that over at the Matty Collector site.
