The producers of House seem to have a thing about eccentric doctors, if their latest project is anything to go by.
According to MTV Geek, Russel Friend and Garrett Lerner - Executive Producers on the Hugh Laurie mediwhatdunnit - are working on a ''modern retelling'' of Mary Shelley's Frankenstein, with a view to developing a TV series based upon the cautionary tale. The report also states they're working with Universal Media Studios, who - of course - were responsible for some of the earliest adaptations of such classic horror tales as the aforementioned Frankenstein, The Mummy, Dracula and Abbot and Costello Meet Frankenstein (Erm...)
No word yet on when we can expect to see this hit our screens or who'll be playing the not-so-good doctor, but - as MTV Geek point out - it'll be facing some stiff competition: there are currently six adaptations of Mary Shelley's novel in the works...
Now this might be very interesting.
