Fans of Hal Jordan will be disappointed to hear that his big screen future is still undecided.
Time Warner Chairman and CEO Jeff Bewkes recently commented that ''[the Green Lantern movie] did not live up to expectations - it fell fairly short of those.''
Whether he means critically or commercially isn't clear, but given the number of poor reviews the movie received and a lackluster opening (''just'' $52.6 million), his comment is equally applicable to both. Mr Bewkes did however add - with regard to a sequel - that ''[Warner Bros] will be deciding that in due course.''
Given that Green Lantern was intended as the first part of a shared-universe Super Movie (ala Marvel's The Avengers) this doesn't bode well for the proposed Justice League big screen adaptation. Hopefully the upcoming Man of Steel and Batman reboots will bolster the project's chances.
We'll bring you more when we have it.
