Entertainment Weekly has posted the first official cast photo from Tim Burton's upcoming ''re-imagining'' of cult/camp classic, Dark Shadows.
The original Dark Shadows began life as a Gothic daytime soap which, during the course of its run, introduced more and more outlandish and supernatural elements into the story lines until the introduction of 200-year old vampire Barnabas Collins cemented the show's reputation for the outre.
During its five-year run the show spawned a line of spin-off books, merchandising tie-ins and even a couple of big-screen movies. Although cancelled in 1971, Dark Shadows retained a huge cult following, thanks to syndicated repeats and has undergone two (albeit less-than-stellar) small-screen revivals. Now Tim Burton is directing the big screen adaptation, which is set for a May 2012 release. If you can't wait to learn more, EW's article sheds a little more light on the kooky characters that populate the weird world of Collinsport.
Am pretty excited about seeing this on the big screen i rather enjoyed watching the tv show in reruns in years gone by so this should be fun.
ReplyDeleteHere's hoping SyFy re-run it soon...
