NEWS: Ridley Scott's Monopoly Hires Writers

Ridley Scott - not content with an Alien ''prequel'' and a new Blade Runner movie - is in the process of translating one of Hasbro's most famous products to the big screen with his take on the property-trading, wheeling-dealing, not-much-fun-but-the-pieces-are-cute board game,  Monopoly.

Now The Hollywood Reporter brings us the news that Scott Alexander and Larry Karaszewski have been assigned the task of scripting the game-to-movie adaptation. The duo previously penned the brilliant Ed Wood and The People vs Larry Flint.

Although Universal is no longer attached to Monopoly - it was one of the movie concepts dropped along with Clue and Ouija(!) - Ridley Scott is still acting as producer and director on this upcoming adaptation.

With GI Joe, Battleships and now Monopoly all making their way to the big screen it looks like it'll be a big year or two for Hasbro. Here's just hoping they don't forget what actually made them a success and neglect their toy business...
