NEWS: The Rocketeer Coming to Blu-Ray

Disney is set to finally release The Rocketeer on Blu-Ray.

As reported at HitFix, the 1991 adaptation of Dave Stevens' graphic novel - itself a tribute to the 30s pulps and Republic serials (especially King of the Rocket Men) - will be released on what appears to be a fairly bare-bones Blu-Ray to mark its 20th Anniversary.

Directed by Joe Johnston - who went on to direct this Summer's Marvel blockbuster Captain America: The First Avenger - The Rocketeer is a superb piece of pulp escapism that's part Iron Man, part Indiana Jones, in which a young aviator dons a prototype rocket pack to battle Nazi spies.

Starring Timothy Dalton, Billy Campbell and Jennifer Connelly The Rocketeer will be released on Blu-Ray on December 13th. Which is just in time for Christmas, if my wife is reading this.
