NEWS: Star Wars: The Complete Saga Sets New Sales Record

Star Wars: The Complete Saga has broken all previous Blu-Ray sales records.

In a week.

Since its release on September 16th, the double-trilogy Special Edition release has sold over one million copies globally (with American sales counting for half that number), smashing all previous Blu-Ray sales records and garnering over $84,000 in sales, reports HitFix.

"Once again our fan’s* [sic] enthusiasm to celebrate 'Stars Wars' continues to amaze us,” said Kayleen Walters, Lucasfilm's Senior Director, Marketing. “Our goal was to deliver a premium product that they could enjoy with their family and friends and we are thrilled that they are enjoying it as much as we hoped they would.”

This does beg the question though: would the figures have been even higher had Lucas included the original theatrical cuts of the movies?

The nine-disc Star Wars: The Complete Saga is available now on Blu-Ray

* Is this a typo or is there just one really rich Star Wars nerd out there buying-up all the copies?
