2000 AD's futuristic war story, Rogue Trooper, is coming to the big screen.
Rogue Trooper followed the adventures of Rogue, a genetically engineered soldier created to operate in the toxic environment of Nu-Earth, battlefield in the war between the Southers and the Norts. When the Genetic Infantrymen are betrayed and massacred, Rogue is the only survivor. Vowing to expose the mysterious Traitor General, Rogue goes AWOL and begins his odyssey across Nu-Earth.
Created by Gerry Finley-Day and a pre-Watchmen Dave Gibbons, Rogue Trooper was an immensely popular strip in the British sci-fi anthology comic, thanks to its combination of war story, social satire and buddy-story (Rogue's rifle, backpack and helmet contain the biochip-based memories of his fallen comrades.) Now Bleeding Cool brings us the news that the tale of future war is not only being developed for the big-screen but that Grant Morrison is handling scripting duties.
With the filming of stablemate Judge Dredd underway and Rogue Trooper in development it looks as if all those childhood wishes could finally be coming true. All we need now is some solid news on the Micronauts movie and I'll be a happy chappy.
