NEWS: Roobarb and Custard Plush Toys Announced

Brits of a certain age will be pleased to hear that cult classic animation Roobarb is to get its own line of plush toys.

Bulldog Licensing signs a deal to take the animated cat and dog into the world of soft toys.

Bulldog Licensing has announced details of a plush licensing agreement with Brazier & Co, which will see Roobarb and Custard made into a series of large plush, beanie and clipper soft toys for retail.

“We are delighted to be adding Brazier to the Roobarb and Custard licensing programme – the brand is perfect for plush as the characters are instantly recognisable and will really stand out on-shelf, so we expect product to perform very well at retail,” said Bulldog MD Rob Corney.

The agreement follows recent deals for Roobarb and Custard with Fred and Ginger for pet accessories, Fatspanner for pub entertainment machines.

Other partners for the brand include Poetic Gem for apparel, Museums and Galleries for greetings and Riviera for canvas wall art. The classic characters are also mascots for the animal welfare charity the PDSA.

Created in the '70s, Roobarb and Custard has recently enjoyed a resurgance thanks to a new animated series, Roobarb and Custard Too, which has aired on Channel Five.

And for no reason other than it's awesome, here's the show's theme tune.
