Greetings, program! It looks like we're headed back to The Grid as Disney inches closer to a third Tron movie.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the House of the Mouse is currently in discussions with writer Jesse Wigutow to script this new installment, which would see the return of Legacy director Joseph Kosinski. The move comes following the appointment of new studio head Alan Horn, who - it appears - seems to be a fan of the series (or, if we're being cynical, the franchise's moneymaking potential.)
Wigutow is no stranger to Disney. He's worked on scripts for both Peter and the Starcatchers and Parallel for the studio, the latter seeing him work with Tron 3 producer Justin Springer.
Although critics may have given it a lukewarm reception and despite the general misconception that the movie was a box office flop, Tron: Legacy grossed over $400 million worldwide, certainly enough to spawn a sequel - and indeed, TV prequel in the form of the rather excellent Tron: Uprising, currently airing on Disney XD.
