KICKSTARTER: Cool & Collected: The Magazine

Brian Adams, the collectibles guru behind Cool & Collected and coordinator of the League of Extraordinary Bloggers (and yes, I know we've been horribly remiss in contributing on that front recently), has a simple, yet brilliant, idea: take all the know-how he's accrued over the years - along with that of a number of fellow Pop Culture bloggers - and use it to create a magazine for and by collectors.

If that sounds like something you'd enjoy reading - and if you're reading That Figures, I'd assume it would be - then you can help make this become a reality by contributing to the Cool & Collected: The Magazine Kickstarter.

NEWS: LoEB ''Social Media'' Round-up

Regular readers may have noticed last week was a little light on the updates front. The reason? A rather nasty Summer cold (which I'm now thankfully on the tail-end of.) But as a result of that I wasn't able to take part in the social media-themed League of Extraordinary Bloggers assignment, which was something I was really looking forward to doing (for the record, mine would've been a riff on The Doctor's Facebook Timeline, which would have naturally been non-linear.)

Thankfully not everyone had exploding head syndrome, though, so here's the round-up of what my fellow League members came-up with.

Here's this week's assignment for The League of Extraordinary Bloggers:

Take a peek at a fictional character’s social media account. What would his or her Twitter feed or Facebook page look like?

NEWS: The League of Extraordinary Bloggers Update

Sadly we weren't around to take part in last week's particularly awesome assignment but we'll certainly be taking part this week, in which Cool and Collected's Brian poses this question:

Besides the Batmobile, what is the sweetest ride cruising the streets of pop culture?

And don't forget, if you'd like to take part then the set-up is pretty straightforward. Just post an update to your blog and then head over to Cool and Collected to submit a link to it. And as the other League members post their links, add a few of them to your post and share the bloggy love.

Oh and in related news, Cool and Collected has launched its very own newsletter. Check it out here!

NEWS: League of Extraordinary Bloggers Assignment 12 Sign-up

Assignment #12 for the League of Extraordinary Bloggers has just been posted over at Cool and Collected, this time from guest Jeremy from Geek Chunks, and it's all about nostalgia:

Grab Rufus and head to the phone booth, because this week, we’re going back in time! Dial up the year you turned 12, and revisit the last official year of your “childhood.”

Stay tuned for our contribution. Or better yet, post your own and then share it with the League.

NEWS: The League Of Extraordinary Bloggers - Things That Make You Go Whoah!

We're still working on our contribution but here's a heads-up for anybody who keeps missing the deadline for their submissions: Brian at Cool and Collected has posted the latest League Assignment (Things That Make You Go Whoah!) so if you'd like to take part this week, then head over there now for your full briefing!

FEATURE: The League of Extraordinary Bloggers - Assignment 2

What, you may ask, is the League of Extraordinary Bloggers?

The brainchild of Brian at Cool And Collected, the LoEB is essentially a kind of interview-cum-link exchange feature, the purpose of which is to give a little insight into the tastes and views of our fellow geeks, nerds and bloggers and along the way maybe find some cool, like-minded individuals with whom we can trade stories (and links to each others blogs.)

OK, so now you're probably asking where Assignment One is. Well here it is. Just without any contribution from me, as I was too late getting in on the act. That won't happen again.

Anyway, onto this week's assignment.
