Deadline reports that James Mangold is in talks with 20th Century Fox to helm the oft-delayed X-Men spin-off, The Wolverine.
Mangold - whose previous work includes the Cruise/Diaz action comedy Knight and Day, bioflick Walk the Line and western remake 3:10 to Yuma - is reputedly the first choice of both the studio and Hugh Jackman, who will be returning to the screen as everybody's favourite Canadian immortal after previously-attached director Darren Aronofsky backed out in March.
