1977 is a year many people associate with one movie and - if you grew-up around then - its associated toy line.
But for the cool kids, Star Wars toys were passe. The coolest toys on the block were The Micronauts.
Microman was Mego's Westernised version of the Japanese line, Microman (which in itself was based upon the previously-released Henshin Cyborg, which was modeled after the Japanese Combat Joe line, based upon GI Joe... It's all circular, you see) and introduced us to a world of enigmatic crystalline Time Travelers, mysterious space villains the Acroyears and awesome retro robot duo Microtron and Biotron. What was particularly cool about the Micronauts (awesome-looking designs aside) was that the figures, vehicles and play-sets could be taken apart and combined to create new toys, thanks to the use of a standard-sized connector peg-and-port system. Add to this the vaguest of any back stories and it becomes clear why the Micronauts fired the imagination so.
For those who miss those days, then the Dork Dimension will reignite your imagination and set you off pining once more for these sadly-missed toys, as they bring you this awesome gallery of catalog images from 1977.
Enjoy.
I will take one of each please from that catalog. : D
