NEWS: CBS Eyes ''Modern Take'' On Sherlock Holmes

Seemingly unaware that it's already been done, CBS has greenlighted a new TV series based on the modern adventures of Sherlock Holmes.

According to Deadline, the show - which is being developed by Timberman/Beverly Productions - is being written by Rob Doherty and is described as ''a modern take on the cases of the pipe-smoking private eye created by Arthur Conan Doyle.'' Nothing at all like the BBC/PBS production Sherlock then.

The Steven Moffat/Mark Gatiss series Sherlock is set to return to our screens for its second season later this year. No word yet on when CBS's take will appear but we'll keep you posted.
