IN OTHER NEWS... 05/23/2013

And IN OTHER NEWS... The latest trailers for Agents of SHIELD, The Wolverine, horror anthology sequel V/H/S 2 and the Man of Steel, plus Marvel's The Watcher 2013, Defiance and Marvel's latest superhero cartoon, Avengers Assemble!

Defiance
If you haven't been watching SyFy's new sci-fi drama Defiance (or the dodgy PS2-level CGI of the pilot's final battle had you reaching for the OFF switch) then you've been missing out on one of the most interesting and complex shows on TV right now. But fear not! You'll get a chance to remedy that this Saturday (May 25th), as SyFy is running a recap marathon featuring all to-date aired episodes, starting at 4 PM EST. In the meantime, here's a picture of Jaime Murray.

Marvel's The Watcher 2013 Episode 18

Man of Steel
Here's the latest trailer, dubbed the ''Fate of your Planet,'' for the upcoming Superman reboot, Man of Steel.

Marvel's Avengers Assemble
Marvel's latest animated adventure series, Avengers Assemble, debuts this weekend on Disney XD. So if you're a fan of the Earth's Mightiest Heroes then be sure to tune in for the one hour preview/pilot on Sunday, May 26th at 11 AM.
The Wolverine

Warehouse 13
There's good news, good news, bad news and more bad news for fans of SyFy's quirky adventure series, Warehouse 13.

First up, Jaime Murray is reprising her recurring guest role of HG Wells when the show returns from the Memorial Day hiatus (which seems to have effectively shut-down all TV for the week) on Monday, June 3rd.

Secondly, SyFy has confirmed that Warehouse 13 has been renewed for a fifth season. Hooray! Unfortunately though, this new season will also be the last. And it will only be 6 episodes long. But at least the producers will be given the opportunity to tie-up the show's loose ends in this new micro-season, rather than it simply being left hanging at the end of the current run.
Agents of SHIELD
So this is probably old news to most but here's the extended trailer for ABC's upcoming Agents of SHIELD.

V/H/S/2
Although it may have come off as being a little ''film student movie'' at times, V/H/S was a very effective, atmospheric low-budget horror anthology (and it's worth a watch if you're a fan of more abstract or visual horror movies), so it's no surprise to learn that there's a sequel coming our way very soon. Even from the trailer I get the feeling the sequel will be another exercise in weird atmosphere and surrealist visuals over narrative and character development but if you're into that kind of thing then it will certainly be one to watch...

  1. Defiance is sitting on my Tivo until I can catch up over the summer (I watch waaay too much TV!) Ms Murray is Awesome and would be reason enough to watch before I even saw that screenshot. Although she was topless in a couple of Dexter episodes...

    1. Defiance begins pretty slowly (and you could even say badly) but once it gets the Pilot Episode Woes out of the way and settles down to telling its story without having to try and impress the ADHD-riddled 13-year olds, it's a pretty complex, character-driven piece.

I think all of the performances are strong but Jaime Murray and Tony Curran are of particular note. It's also a great show for playing with expectations and giving even ''throwaway'' characters a bit of, well, character!

And yes, that prompted her awesome line about ''Oh, pardon my ***s!''
