NEWS: Wonder Woman TV Casting

NBC has announced the casting of Adrianne Palicki to the lead role in their upcoming live-action Wonder Woman pilot.

Palicki, of Friday Night Lights and Lone Star fame, takes on the mantle of the Avenging Amazon in the Fall-scheduled pilot, written by Boston Legal's David E. Kelley and described as a ''serious, non-campy take on the DC character.''

The script sees Wonder Woman, a ''vigilante crime-fighter,'' using the familiar trappings of the character such as her golden lasso, plane and bullet-proof bracelets to combat crime in Los Angeles. Alter-ego Diana Prince meanwhile is described as ''a successful corporate executive and modern woman trying to balance all the elements of her extraordinary life.'' By the sounds of it, NBC are attempting to remain true to the character's comicbook heroics but with more human drama to add extra emotional depth - and no doubt increase non-superhero audience appeal.
