VIDEO VIEW: Elementary Trailer 2

I have to admit that Elementary has moved up in my estimation from ''weak Sherlock knock-off'' to ''actually might not suck'' and - although it pains me, as a Sherlock fan, to say it - after watching this trailer is now teetering on the brink of ''could be quite good.''

VIDEO VIEW: Elementary Preview

I'm a big fan of Sherlock Holmes and I dig what the BBC has done with Sherlock. So I have to admit I was very, very skeptical when CBS announced it was to produce a modern update to the adventures of Holmes and Watson, especially when it came to light that the US network had previously spoken with Hartsfield Productions, the company behind the BBC's Cumberbatch-fest. And yet, having watched the above preview for Elementary I find myself thinking, ''you know, maybe that might work...''

I guess we'll see when Elementary premieres later this year.

NEWS: BBC's Sherlock Vs CBS's Elementary

Last September we brought you the news that CBS was looking to produce a modern update to the classic adventures of the world's most famous detective, Sherlock Holmes. At the time we commented on the fact that the BBC had already done a very good job of that with their update, Sherlock.

Now Sherlock producer Sue Vertue has thrown her hat into the ring in a series of Tweets and interviews, stating that she ''will protect our series.''
