NEWS: Zombieland Writers To Script Micronauts Movie

It seems the much-stalled Micronauts movie is finally gaining some momentum with the announcement that Zombieland scribes Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese have been tapped by Paramount to script the toy-to-movie adaptation of the 1970s micro-scaled figures.

The announcement that the duo - who also recently provided writing duties on toy-based movie script in the form of GI Joe 2: Retaliation - are set to script the JJ Abrams-directed feature was made by Hasbro CEO Brian Goldner during a conference call with Hasbro investors yesterday and is - according to Deadline - seen by the toy manufactuer as a high priority third quarter project.

No word yet on whether the script will be based upon the Marvel or Devil's Due characters, or if the pair will instead focus on a new story completely. Personally I'm just hoping that the tie-in toy line retains the unique look of the originals...

We'll bring you more when we have it, but it's good to know at least the project seems to be underway now after so many months in Development Hell.

  1. I'm really curious as to what approach they'll be taking. And I hope the toys will keep their Micronaut-ness and not just be generic space figures.
