NEWS: Trash Pack Trashies Vending Machine

The image and title pretty much say it all but Philip at BattleGrip posted the above picture, showing the new Trash Pack Trashies vending machine.

I've yet to see one for myself (although I've been looking) and I'm not sure if the included Trashies are simply all re-releases of previously-seen toys (I do recognize at least one, so I'm guessing this is the case) or if there are some that are exclusive to the vending machine but either way, at a Dollar per figure, it's not a bad deal at all.

KICKSTARTER: Transforming Expectations

Philip ''BattleGrip'' Reed has launched a new Kickstarter campaign to fund a sequel to his third-party Transformers reference guide, Transforming Collections. Transforming Expectations, as the second book is to be titled, will again feature a number of high-quality color images, all bound in an awesome hardback format.

The project has only been live for a few days but funding is already past the halfway point. Which is awesome, as it not only means the book will be pretty much a shoe-in to be published but that Philip will be able to add a few stretch goals to enhance its awesomeness. Check out the video above and then head over to the book's Kickstarter Page to learn more.

Battlegrip: The Magazine will feature the same in-depth reviews, photos and more in a new format that launches - as a free-to-download .PDF - next Monday, September 2nd. Ahead of that though you can get a sneak peek of what to expect by checking the latest posts on the matter at Battlegrip. And don't worry - we'll be sure to remind you again later this week and the day after the launch...

NEWS: Transforming Collections Official Website

As you may know, Transforming Collections - the Kickstarter-funded book by Battlegrip's Philip Reed that takes a look at the world of third party Transformers toys - has already passed its initial funding goal. But there are still a number of secondary goals Philip would like to achieve (including getting the book published in hardback format) so in order to keep track of what's going on with the project - and provide the latest in news and reviews - Philip has created the official Transforming Collections website. KICKSTARTER: Transforming Collections Toy Reference Book

It's already surpassed its initial target (with 20 days to go!) but fans of shape-changing robot toys will no doubt leap at the chance to help out with this upcoming reference book exploring the world of unofficial Transformers toys, as proposed by Battlegrip's Philip Reed.

And although the book has reached its initial goal, that doesn't mean you shouldn't continue to donate, as there's a host of secondary targets that will expand the book to include additional content.

NEWS: Battlegrip Reviews Hot Wheels Mystery Models - Cracks ''Blind-Bag'' Code

I have to admit that I'm not really - and never have been - a fan of toy cars. It's probably because I'm not a petrol-head, so the idea of collecting model vehicles has never really appealed to me. However, these blind-bagged Mystery Models from Hot Wheels - which Phillip at Battlegrip has just reviewed - are certainly a pretty neat idea.

Unfortunately, Phillip has also figured-out that the packs really aren't as blind-bagged as you might expect and it's possible to work-out which vehicle is in the pack by simply cross-referencing the reference number on the pack's front with the checklist on the rear. Bit of a boo-boo there, Mattel...

NEWS: Blind-Bagged Hot Wheels

Phillip at Battlegrip spotted this rather interesting display in a Wal-Mart store earlier this week, featuring a line of blind-bagged Hot Wheels toys. No doubt intended to cash-in on the Gogo's Crazy Bones/Lego Minifigures mystery buy craze, there are - as the image informs us - 24 cars to collect in this wave of cars, although they do appear to be re-colours of previously-released toys.

Still with Christmas just around the corner (and yes, it's a worryingly-close 36 days away) these could make an ideal stocking stuffer for fans of the line or younger relatives.
