NEWS: Trash Pack Trashies Vending Machine

The image and title pretty much say it all but Philip at BattleGrip posted the above picture, showing the new Trash Pack Trashies vending machine.

I've yet to see one for myself (although I've been looking) and I'm not sure if the included Trashies are simply all re-releases of previously-seen toys (I do recognize at least one, so I'm guessing this is the case) or if there are some that are exclusive to the vending machine but either way, at a Dollar per figure, it's not a bad deal at all.

NEWS: Marvel Vending Machine Toys

It sounds like it should be a match made in heaven - gashapon-style vending machine + Marvel characters = awesome, right?

Sadly Phillip at Battlegrip reports that this isn't the case in his review of this new line of Marvel Capsule toys. I'd probably still pick one or two up for myself if I saw them, especially now my expectations have been lowered...

It's time for another Freaky Geek Cool Capsule. This time our featured vending machine toy is surf dude - and full-time cyclops - Go-Go.

COOL CAPSULES: Sqwishland Sqwake

We've already seen the Sqwishland capsule toys in a previous Cool Capsules feature. Today sees the Sqwishland Sqwarrot being joined by the Sqwishland Sqwake.

COOL CAPSULES: Ninja Fighters White Ninja

Tuesday night saw us out for a family dinner at a local pizza place. And we had a great night, made all the better by the awesome vending machines the restaurant had tucked away in one corner, one of which was stocked with these very cool Ninja Fighter figures from A&A Global Industries (who appear to be the Microsoft Apple of vending toys.)

COOL CAPSULES: Freaky Geek Ollie

We've looked at some of the Freaky Geeks before (Knuckles, Herbert and Cy-Fi) so you should know pretty much what to expect from today's Cool Capsule entry, Freaky Geek Ollie.

COOL CAPSULES: Freaky Geek Herbert

Herbert is the latest addition to my Freaky Geeks collection (we've already seen Knuckles and Cy-Fi in previous Cool Capsules features.) I was initially disappointed with the two previous Freaky Geeks but decided to give the line another go. So how does Herbert compare to his pod-mates?

COOL CAPSULES: Numb Skullz ''Bernie''

We've seen the Numb Skullz here before, with Bernie's ''capsule cousin'' Louie appearing in a previous Cool Capsules feature. However, last night as I was leaving a store I spotted a Numb Skullz vending machine and - as I'd had no luck finding any of the new GI Joe or Marvel Universe figures - I decided to console myself with a 50c toy instead. And Bernie was the result.

COOL CAPSULES: Numb Skullz ''Louie''

''Gogo's Crazy Bones.'' Three words that have spawned an entire industry of homages, knock-offs, look-alikes and ''tributes'' in the world of vending machine toys. On that list of toys - which includes Bok Choi Boys and Freaky Geeks - you can add another entrant: the Numb Skullz.

COOL CAPSULES: Bare Bones Skull and Snake

We've already seen one toy from the Bare Bones collection, but as they were so cool, I decided to present a follow-up with this piece I'm calling the ''Skull and Snake,'' which despite what it might sound like, is not a dodgy Goth pub.

COOL CAPSULES: Bare Bones Gargoyle

Another awesome addition to my vending machine toy collection, this Gargoyle came from a machine displaying a (rather childishly) illustrated front-piece declaring it to be ''Pirate Treasure.'' The booty on offer included a wide range of novelties, from fake moustaches to jewelry and pink-haired trolls - at least according to the toys attached to the card.

In reality the machine appeared to have been emptied of these treasures and instead restocked with a new range of toys, which I've since identified as being the Bare Bones line (there's also a wicked-cool glow-in-the-dark variant set!) Although I spotted a few ''gold'' rings in there - presumably left-over from the pirate booty toys - the majority of the capsules contained Bare Bones toys, such as the Gargoyle here.

COOL CAPSULES: Glow In the Dark Aliens

I'm a sucker for those capsule toys. From cheap, 25c rubbish to the more detailed Gashapon-style ubertoys, I'm always on the look out for unusual or fun toy-dispensing capsule machines. I love that anticipation of seeing what you're going to get and - in some cases - scoring a cool little treasure. And in this - our first Cool Capsules feature - I've got a doozy: glow in the dark aliens.

REVIEW: Gogo's Crazy Bones

What are Crazy Bones? Imagine a cross between designer vinyl-style toys and Monster in My Pocket. Why that's just... crazy!
