COOL CAPSULES: Sqwishland Sqwake

We've already seen the Sqwishland capsule toys in a previous Cool Capsules feature. Today sees the Sqwishland Sqwarrot being joined by the Sqwishland Sqwake.

COOL CAPSULES: Sqwishland Sqwarrot

Sqwishland is a new line of capsule toys, similar to the Squinkies line of collectable mini-figures (such as the Marvel Universe Squinkies Reviewed here.) The major conceptual difference - licensing aside - is that the Sqwishland capsules feature Sqwishland Codes, which can be used in the Sqwishland online game. More on that later.

COOL CAPSULES: Ninja Fighters White Ninja

Tuesday night saw us out for a family dinner at a local pizza place. And we had a great night, made all the better by the awesome vending machines the restaurant had tucked away in one corner, one of which was stocked with these very cool Ninja Fighter figures from A&A Global Industries (who appear to be the Microsoft Apple of vending toys.)

However, last night as I was leaving a store I spotted a Numb Skullz vending machine and - as I'd had no luck finding any of the new GI Joe or Marvel Universe figures - I decided to console myself with a 50c toy instead. And Bernie was the result.

''Gogo's Crazy Bones.'' Three words that have spawned an entire industry of homages, knock-offs, look-alikes and ''tributes'' in the world of vending machine toys. On that list of toys - which includes Bok Choi Boys and Freaky Geeks - you can add another entrant: the Numb Skullz. 

COOL CAPSULES: Freaky Geek Knuckles

Freaky Geeks are a new line of 50c vending machine toys with a decidedly ''urban vinyl'' feel to them. Although I'd seen them online before (although I can't find where now...) I was surprised to see a machine vending the Freaky Geeks toys at my local Publix. Four quarters later and I had two Freaky Geeks in-hand, the first of which is Knuckles, the subject of today's Cool Capsules.

Monkeys rule. Clear plastic toys are also pretty awesome. And anything that just costs a Quarter is pretty good in my book, too. So if you take all those things and mix 'em up, you know you're going to get some kind of ultra-win.

COOL CAPSULES: Squishy Rubber Pencil Topper Monkey Thing

I have to admit, I have a thing about monkeys and monkey-based toys. So you can imagine how happy I was when I not only spotted a toy vending machine full of animals, but that I also managed to score the monkey toy from it.

Please note that the following may not be safe for work... Really, I'm not joking.

COOL CAPSULES: Bare Bones Skull and Snake

We've already seen one toy from the Bare Bones collection, but as they were so cool, I decided to present a follow-up with this piece I'm calling the ''Skull and Snake,'' which despite what it might sound like, is not a dodgy Goth pub.

COOL CAPSULES: Bare Bones Gargoyle

Another awesome addition to my vending machine toy collection, this Gargoyle came from a machine displaying a (rather childishly) illustrated front-piece declaring it to be ''Pirate Treasure.'' The booty on offer included a wide range of novelties, from fake moustaches to jewelry and pink-haired trolls - at least according to the toys attached to the card.

In reality the machine appeared to have been emptied of these treasures and instead restocked with a new range of toys, which I've since identified as being the Bare Bones line (there's also a wicked-cool glow-in-the-dark variant set!) Although I spotted a few ''gold'' rings in there - presumably left-over from the pirate booty toys - the majority of the capsules contained Bare Bones toys, such as the Gargoyle here.

COOL CAPSULES: Monkeyin' Around ''Mouthy'' Monkey

A vending machine that gives out MONKEY toys? Surely such a thing would cause the world to implode under the weight of such awesomeness! But lo! - the Monkeyin' Around capsule toys!

COOL CAPSULES: Domo as Gojira

RAAAAR!

We've already seen Domokun in a less-aggressive mode but when I picked-up this Domo as Gojira (at least, I'm assuming that's who he's supposed to be) I had to share him.

COOL CAPSULES: McDonalds Happy Meal ''Young Justice'' Black Manta

McDonalds - a fast-food chain who with a few outlets around the world - is currently running a Young Justice promotion, in which their Happy Meal packs contain toys from the animated series. 

COOL CAPSULES: Bok Choy Boy

Another capsule vending machine masterpiece, this Bok Choy Boy is one of a series of 12 collectable figurines.

Domo is a popular character in Japan, who originally began life as the mascot of the NHK television channel but quickly earned his own spin-off shorts, comicbook and toy line.
