NEWS: Thundercats 2011 Toys Available for Pre-Order

As we all know, Thundercats was one of the most awesome cartoons ever made. OK, so I was too old to watch it and yes, it did produce an entire generation of Furries (Cheetara, it's all your fault) but how could you resist that widdly-widdly-wooo guitar work, great character designs and awesome animation?

Anyway, Big Bad Toy Store are offering pre-orders on the new line of toys that are set to tie-in with the upcoming reboot of the series. Although there's not much to see (and no images of the toys yet), it does offer an insight (beyond sight!) into the range, which consists of 4'' figures, vehicles and playsets.

VINTAGE VIEW: Micronauts Microtron (1976)

Welcome to the first Vintage View, a new feature where we take a look at some of the older toys from my personal collection. Today's offering is the 1976 Microtron, from Mego's Micronauts line.

NEWS: New Marvel's Greatest Battles Double-Packs Rumour

Deadpool vs Taskmaster and Silver Samurai vs Wolverine are set to be the subjects of the two upcoming Marvel's Greatest Battles packs - or at least that's if the rumours are to be believed over at the HISS Tank Forums.

It's important to note this is purely a rumour at the moment (even though the Taskmaster set is already listed for sale online...) but if this is true, then these packs could be worth hunting down. Yes, so the Deadpool figure appears to be the same as that released in the X-Men Origins: Wolverine line, which is no bad thing given how difficult he is to find and yes, we're getting another Wolverine figure, but the Taskmaster and Silver Samurai are both excellent designs and these figures certainly look like they're going to do those designs justice.

More news as we get it.

Just a quick* reminder that the latest drop of Callgrim figures goes on-sale tonight at 8PM, EST.

UPDATE: First look at the new figures.
* For those wondering about the lack of updates this week, I injured my wrist over the weekend and - as a result - have a hard time typing. Hopefully my Wolverine-like healing powers will kick-in soon.

FEATURE: Online Shopping Guide

One of the most frustrating things about being a toy collector is seeing an online review that makes you want to purchase the item yourself, only to find your local Toys R Us or Walmart or even specialist comicbook store doesn't stock the toy you want.

So where can you turn when the bricks and mortar retailers let you down?

You shop online, of course! But that's not without its own issues, too. Which is why we're proud to present the That Figures Online Shopping Guide.

NEWS: New Callgrim Drop January 26th

The first wave of Callgrim figures for 2011 has been announced at Callgrim.com.

In a post on the Callgrim Blog, Jesse gives us a few details on the release, which consists of ''6 standard figures, 3 special builds and 2 Armodoc.'' He goes on to detail plans for 2011, which include more regular updates, the year's first custom drop and an animated online comic.

No additional details are available on exactly what we can expect to see in the drop, or their price, but we'll hopefully know more before the release date, which is currently scheduled for January 26th at 8 PM EST.

REVIEW: Microman Robotman (2001 Replica)

In a review that's been over 30 years in the making, I'm taking a look at the 2001 replica of one of Microman's most iconic releases: Robotman!

With his awesome styling, transformable-parts and - best of all - motorised action (allowing him to not only roll on his back-track but also walk!) Robotman is a toy filled with surprises and fun.

But before we go any further, let's clarify some points here.

REVIEW: Marvel Universe's Yellowjacket (With Ant Man)

Brilliant but unstable biochemist and robotics engineer Henry Pym never really intended to become a Super Hero.  When a group of spies captured his assistants, he was forced to use his inventions to save them.  That is when he discovered his true calling.  Since that day, he has been one of America's foremost heroes, adventuring with various groups of AVENGERS.  Though he has suffered many tragedies over the years, he has never stopped trying to be the best hero he can be.

Hey!  Two characters for the price of one!  That must be a bargain!  Right?  Right...?

REVIEW: Marvel Universe's Dark Hawkeye

For BULLSEYE, working as Norman Osborn's HAWKEYE is like having a free pass to do everything he ever wanted.  He gets to operate in the open, be as bad as he wants, and people cheer for him.  He gets to indulge his urge to hunt heroes like DAREDEVIL and SPIDER-MAN, and the nightly news loves him for it.  He never thought being a hero could be such a thrill, but he could get used to it.

Continuing our trend of MAKING MINE MARVEL, today it's the turn of Wave 11's Dark Hawkeye.

NEWS: Microman Forever Updated

Microman Forever - the world's best Microman resource - has been updated following a hosting issue that forced the site into an 18-month hiatus.

As we reported in November concerns were raised when the site - which had not been updated since March 2009 - went offline.  Upon further investigation it was discovered that the company hosting the site had folded, taking the site with them.  Thankfully site owner Paul L. was able to move Microman Forever to a new hosting company and the site was back online a few days later.

The new content  includes a look at 1982's Acroyear Series AcroSatan (pictured) plus additions to the Star Wars Vintage Series.  With the hosting issue now solved, hopefully we'll see more regular updates to the site.

NEWS: Sarvos Mini Coming From Onell and RealXHead

Onell Design has announced their first release for 2011: the Sarvos Mini.

Designed in collaboration with the RealXHead crew, this ''Super-Deformed'' vinyl version of Sarvos comes with four points of articulation (neck, shoulders and waist) and stand at around 3''.  Retailing at $35 (with no word on any purchase limit yet) the Sarvos Mini is (tentatively) scheduled to go on-sale on January 14th at 8PM EST (storms permitting.)

Matt also gave an update on the Glyos Axis Joints, stating that a restock of the highly-popular pieces was due ''before the month is over'' and that we may even be seeing some additional colours added to the line.

More details are available at the Glyos Transmission Web Log.

UPDATE: The Sarvos Minis are now sold-out.

REVIEW: Marvel Universe's Constrictor

Frank Payne started off wanting to do good. He joined S.H.I.E.L.D. hoping that he could make the world a little bit safer for his wife and daughter. An undercover operation gone wrong left him a broken man and he fell into a life of crime, becoming the deadly CONSTRICTOR. For years, he has worked as a freelance criminal. Only recently, with the amnesty offered by Superhuman Registration, has he returned to his calling, and begun once again to try making the world a better place.

Finally from what seems the Marvel Universe's most elusive run, Wave 11 comes the Constrictor figure.  Is he worth the effort or are there better figures to track down?  Read on and find out!

NEWS: Site Updates and Changes

Change is good!  At least, we think so at That Figures - and we hope you do, too!

We've introduced a new Score section to each Review, the purpose of which is to summarise the text in a simple manner, so visitors will be left with a clear final view of the pros and cons of the toy in question and also be able to settle those arguments about who'd win in a fight between the Hulk and the Thing.  Well, their toys, anyway...

REVIEW: Marvel Universe's Skrull Soldier

Though the Skrull Empire had vast resources and powerful technology, the backbone of its all-conquering armies was made of these humble soldiers.  Each one was trained to use his shape-shifting abilities to create confusion among their enemies, making them vulnerable to the surprise attacks and sabotage that were the Skrull Empire's signature.  For a thousand years, these soldiers were what allowed the empire to bring an entire galaxy to its knees.

Kicking-off 2011, we're taking a look today at the Skrull Soldier, one of the rarer figures from Marvel Universe's Wave 9.

Is his rarity a supply fluke or is the figure really in such high-demand?  And if so, is it worth hunting down?  FACE FRONT and find out!
