REVIEW: Marvel Universe's Iron Man 2020

Arno Stark isn't quite the hero his cousin Tony Stark was, but he does his best - as long as the best is what pays.  The world of 2020 is less about right and wrong, and more about the bottom line which is why IRON MAN always works for the highest bidder.  Of course, he's also got to answer to his Board, so he tries to keep his eye on the big picture.  If a mission won't enhance Stark Industries' stock price, then he almost always regretfully declines.

Today I'm taking a look at - in case you haven't already guessed - Iron Man 2020.

REVIEW: Marvel Universe's Modular Armor Iron Man

This is the sleekest, most lightweight armor ever designed by Tony Stark.  Built to meet the parameters of any possible challenge, it is covered in ports that can house any of hundreds of mission-specific modules.  In the space of moments, this armor can swap out a suite of research scanners for a weapons package that would put most battleships to shame.

Another day, another Marvel Universe review (I promise I'll review some other toys soon!)  Today I'm looking at another entry in the new Series 3 range.  Is it a Spider-Man 2099 or a Spider-Woman?  Read on and find out!

NEWS: Onell Design's ''Henshin Wave'' Now Available

The previously mentioned Henshin Wave of Glyos figures is now available at Onell Design's website.

Matt Doughty posted an update to accompany the new drop, describing it as ''a simple, fun release that brings us back to the days of finding a brand new figure on the shelves'' that pays tribute to Takara's Henshin Cyborg and Mel Birnkrant's Outer Space Men.

The new wave sees the return of some old favourites plus the introduction of some superb new colour-options.

REVIEW: Marvel Universe's Spider-Man 2099

In a future ruled by a corrupt and profit-mad corporation, Earth is starved for heroes.  SPIDER-MAN 2099 is the first of many to fight back against the scheming of Alchemax.  Granted his powers in a laboratory accident, he fights the company from within, and uses his technical genius to keep his identity hidden from the high-tech Public Eye security forces.

He's just a repaint of the black-costume Spider-Man with a few custom parts.

What, you want more?  Okay but there's really little else to say...

NEWS: New Glyos Wave ''Coming Thursday''

Matt Doughty of Onell Design has released more details - along with some stunning pictures - of the new wave of Glyos figures.

According to Matt's post on the Glyos Transmission Web Log, Onell Design are ''on track for a Thursday launch this week.''  No details of a time are available yet but if past experience is anything to go by, I'd anticipate a drop-time somewhere between 8 and 9 PM EST (that's GMT -5 for non-US visitors!)

Although this is a full production run of figures (so numbers should be plentiful) it's worth noting that this is also the first wave to include the amazing new Axis Joints and that demand for them - and the glow-in-the-dark and clear figures also in this release - will be high, so don't dally when it comes to getting your orders in.

We'll update you as and when we have any news but in the meantime, why not prime yourself with the latest chapter of the Gendrone Chronicles?

UPDATE: Matt has confirmed the drop for tomorrow, at 10PM EST.  Hit the link for full details of what's in store.

REVIEW: Marvel Universe's Spider-Woman

SPIDER-WOMAN struggles with self-definition.  Her birth and the genesis of her powers are a mystery, and the earliest years of her life are a haze.  She has been an agent of Hydra, a soldier for S.H.I.E.L.D. and an alien hunter for S.W.O.R.D.  She battles constantly to take full control over her life, and do away with the sinister mysteries of her past.

Hasbro's latest wave sees a lot of new faces  to augment the existing line-up of big hitters and today I'm looking at one of the former in the shape of Spider-Woman.

NEWS: Assembleborg.net Now Live - Toys Available in US

We previously reported the rumblings but we can now confirm it: the Microman-inspired toys of Assemble Borg are now available for the first time in the US.

Kaiyodo's new website provides details (in slightly broken English at times, but still...) on this first wave of releases, entitled ''Chapter 1: Blast Off!!'' As well as providing an insight into the characters, concepts behind the line and the creators, the site - most importantly - provides Western fans with a way to purchase the toys online: which happens to be via Amazon.

NEWS: New Wave of Glyos Figures ''Next Week''

Matt Doughty of Onell Design has posted a few preview images of the upcoming wave of Glyos figures.

As we previously mentioned, Matt has cited Takara's classic Henshin Cyborg as a big influence on this wave and nowhere is that more evident than with the purple Phanost pictured here, which is clearly Matt's tribute to my favourite bad guy, King Walder.

This wave is also the first to incorporate the Axis Joint System, a newly designed joint set that allows for a greater level of poseability and articulation.

The post at the Onell Design Transmission Blog also teases a ''next week'' release date for these toys, which, despite being a full production run (rather than a custom drop) I'm sure will sell-out very quickly.

More as we get it.

REVIEW: Marvel Universe's Doc Samson

DOC SAMSON has always believed that the HULK is only a symptom of a deeper problem within Bruce Banner's mind.  For years, he worked to cure Banner of his affliction through a combination of psychoanalysis and gamma science.  Exposed to gamma radiation he gained phenomenal strength and durability.  Though he remains primarily a psychiatrist, he also uses his strength to assist his friends among Earth's heroes.

Following on from yesterday's Captain Marvel review comes Figure 002 from Hasbro's new Series 3 Marvel Universe toys, a figure that continues what appears to be a celebration of 70s superheroics.  Read on, true believer!

REVIEW: Marvel Universe's Captain Marvel

Born light years away in the Kree Empire, Mar-Vell rose to great renown as a soldier of the Kree.  Sent to infiltrate and observe Earth, he fell in love with the chaotic young world and its people.  He was eventually befriended by Earth's heroes, and eventually became renowned as one of Earth's greatest champions, despite his alien origins.

So how is the first figure of the new Series from Marvel Universe?

NEWS: Onell Design Previews ''Henshin Force'' Glyos

It's no secret that the guys and girls at Onell Design are fans of Microman and the Micronauts, so it comes as no surprise to see their upcoming Glyos drop paying homage to another classic toy from Takara.

Taking their cue from the Henshin Cyborg range of toys, the figures are not only a tribute to the line that started it all, but - more importantly for Glyos fans - look to be the first  full-production wave to use the new Axis Joint System.  An earlier run of pre-production prototype joints sold out in under 10 minutes, so you know demand for this wave will be high!

Glyos collectors will already know this isn't the first time Onell Design have paid tribute to the Henshin Cyborg line: an early custom release featured a number of ''Walshin'' figures, including the incredible Walshin Phanost, a superb homage to the ultimate bad guy, King Walder, but this is the first time we've seen a full production run.

No further details are available yet, but we'll keep you posted.

UPDATE: Matt Doughty of Onell Design has confirmed that these are indeed full production runs and will include transparent Gendrone Buildmen, Sincroids, Travelers, Axis Joints and Phase Arm sets.  He also commented that white, black, grey and green glow-in-the-dark Axis Joints are also on the cards and more details will be released early next week.
