Unlike many Minimates figure sets, these figures will not be sold through Toys R Us and are a ''specialist store'' exclusive - unless of course you do the smart thing and order them from Big Bad Toy Store!

NEWS: Marvel's The Avengers Toy Packaging Revealed

Collider - via The ToyArk - brings us the first image of - among other things - this ''Plasma Cannon'' Iron Man figure from the upcoming Marvel's The Avengers movie tie-in line.

I'm not sure if the ''Plasma Cannon'' designation is a reference to an event in the movie, whether Hasbro plans to include ''mission variant'' versions of the figures (as seen with the Spider-Man figure line's Extreme Ninja Surfboard Spider-Man-type figures) or if this is just the work of an imaginative graphic designer adding ''interesting'' elements to the mock-up.

I guess we'll just have to wait until nearer the movie's release to find out.

NEWS: More Mini-Skekiltor, Oculus Viri First Shot

CLASSIC COMMERCIALS: Starbird By MB Electronics

This weirdly-sedate, rather sterile commercial just doesn't convey how cool the Starbird really was. An electronic toy with flashing laser blasts AND engine noises? Surely that was the Best Thing Ever! It's also interesting to note that the ad is designed for adults, presumably taking a tip from the very cool Micronauts commercials of the same era...

Ladies and Gentlemen, meet Cactus of the Forest Tribe from the new line of Gormiti figures, Gormiti Luxion.

As reported at Toypedia (a site any fan of small-scale mini-figures should be checking out), the new line focuses on glow-in-the-dark figures, with 29 of the 34 new figures featuring this effect. Although the line is launching this month in Europe, there's no word on whether we'll see the figures in the US but here's hoping we do, as - with a bit of smart marketing and decent distribution - the Gormiti line could be the new Monster In My Pocket.

NEWS: Sherlock Season 2 UK Air Date Leaked

Bleeding Cool reports that the UK air date of Season Two of the BBC's modern take on the classic detective's adventures, Sherlock, has been delayed until January of next year.

During an interview on chat and cookery show Saturday Kitchen, Lara Pulver - who we'll see portraying Irene Adler (AKA ''The Woman'') in  the upcoming ''Scandal in Belgravia'' - stated that the show was returning to UK screens ''In January.'' (Read the full quote here.)

It's not clear why the BBC has elected to hold-over the show until next year or whether this will impact the broadcast of Season Two on PBS, the US channel whose affiliates co-fund production but we'll bring you more when we have it.

NEWS: Original Ms Marvel Re-Issued

Scanning through the Marvel Universe figure racks this morning I came across two of the original Ms Marvel figures, which would appear to be part of a new revision case.

The red and black costume Ms Marvel was re-issued earlier this year with a variant head. Although the packaging made no reference to this, it was clearly intended to be the ''Dark'' Ms Marvel (Karla Sofen), rather than the real Ms Marvel (Carol Danvers.) Now it seems Hasbro is giving collectors the chance to get their hands on the ''original original'' Ms Marvel as part of this new revision case.

Much as I was tempted, I really couldn't justify the $8+ I'd be paying for a figure I already have - just with a new head - but at least it's nice to have the option...

NEWS: Dark Shadows Cast Photo

Entertainment Weekly has posted the first official cast photo from Tim Burton's upcoming ''re-imagining'' of cult/camp classic, Dark Shadows.

The original Dark Shadows began life as a Gothic daytime soap which, during the course of its run, introduced more and more outlandish and supernatural elements into the story lines until the introduction of 200-year old vampire Barnabas Collins cemented the show's reputation for the outre

During its five-year run the show spawned a line of spin-off books, merchandising tie-ins and even a couple of big-screen movies. Although cancelled in 1971, Dark Shadows retained a huge cult following, thanks to syndicated repeats and has undergone two (albeit less-than-stellar) small-screen revivals. Now Tim Burton is directing the big screen adaptation, which is set for a May 2012 release. If you can't wait to learn more, EW's article sheds a little more light on the kooky characters that populate the weird world of Collinsport.

SPONSORED LINK: Marvel Universe Series 3 Wave 4

They may be hitting shelves now but given Hasbro's distribution track record, I wouldn't bank on finding the Marvel Universe Series 3 Wave 4 line-up in your local store any time soon. Unless of course, you order them from Big Bad Toy Store.

Featuring Darkhawk, Namor (Classic Costume), Ultron, Steve Rogers and X-23 (which includes the new female figure articulation set-up) this five-figure set is available now from Big Bad Toy Store for a very reasonable $49.99.
